Undergraduate Members

Julie Grisset

Picture
Julie is an undergraduate studying Environmental Engineering at the University of Florida. She joined the lab in the Fall of 2019 to assist with benthic crab community research across mangrove, ecotone, and salt marsh ecosystems, and she is continuing her work with the lab during the Summer of 2020 as a GCE-LTER intern studying marsh disturbances and recovery and the associated impacts. Julie is passionate about coastal ecosystems and is particularly interested in studying water quality and coastline resiliency in the face of rising sea levels.

Marcela Ifju

Picture
Marcela is a senior undergraduate student studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Florida. She is interested in transitioning into coastal engineering as a graduate student and using her engineering background to study the marine environment. She will be assisting Sydney Williams as a field intern on Sapelo Island, GA in her research.

Savannah Peltrau

Picture
Savannah is a recent graduate of the University of Florida.  During her time at UF, she obtained an environmental science and minors in sustainability studies and soil and water science.  As an undergrad, she was a part of several student organizations. She also worked within the Angelini lab, Library East, as well as the Alachua County Waste Study. Outside of school, she worked with an environmental engineering firm that helped assess contaminated environmental sites.

Raichel Gulde

Picture
Raichel is a fourth year undergraduate in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, studying environmental engineering. She is interested in all things water, including water quality, conservation, resource allocation, and recycling. She is currently assisting Lauren Brisley in studying boat traffic to understand the interactions between their wakes and the coastal ecosystem. Contact: rgulde@ufl.edu

Donovan Mitchell

Donovan is an undergraduate student studying Marine Science at the University of Florida. He joined the lab to gain experience in experimental community ecology. His current research focuses on both developing new strategies to improve coastal dune restoration success and  quantifying the effects of invasive hogs on salt marsh ecosystem structure and function.  Donovan aims to use this experience to pursue a career at the intersection of technology and endangered marine animal restoration.
